My grandfather was in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific in WWII on an Emergency Rescue Squadron plane. He told me how they used evaporative cooling to chill their beer. They'd put everyone's brewskies in a barrel full of av gas, run an aircompressor line to it to speed evaporation, and chill the beer.
